Dental Fluorosis is an endemic dental disorder, widespread in many states of our country, that occurs due to excessive intake of fluoride during developmental stages of teeth. It characterized by change in the appearance of enamel that ranges from small, opaque, “paper white” areas scattered irregularly over the tooth to brown discoloration or pitting. It can be prevented by regulating the optimum levels of fluoride in drinking water supply in the community. Dental Fluorosis can be treated for aesthetic reasons by bleaching, veneers or laminates. Dental Fluorosis a menace for population together in a society may hinder the personality and confidence of an individual. A timely advice by a dentist on the oral health of affected individuals can a go long way in managing the clinical condition.
