How to fix pain due to high points after dental fillings?-Dr. Shambhu H Shivanna

Usually when there is a new filling or new crown, the patient may experience some sort of pain or sensitivity of the tooth or the joints. The pain or sensitivity has to be corrected immediately or else in a short term the patients might expect some sort of a pain or sensitivity which might become permanent. In the long term there might be occlusal grinding of the opposite teeth as well as the temporomandibular joint pain. Usually the patient has to go back to dentist immediately in one or two days. The patient will use a colored paper or some sort of a liquid to see the high points. The high points will be corrected within few minutes with a handpiece. Immediately after the correction of the high points, the patients will be relieved of sensitivity or pain. If the pain or sensitivity exists even after the correction, that might wear off within few days.
