How do you treat Dental Fluorosis? – Dr. Aniruddha KB

Understanding to treat fluorosis is very important. One is preventing fluorosis. So we have to first attend as far as public health dentistry is concerned, we need to attend to them and tell them the reason behind fluorosis. So once the fluorosis is already there in the patients mouth, it is very difficult or us to reverse it back to a naturally looking tooth, so what we generally is we recommend patients an aesthetic procedure, maybe a veneer, in severe conditions the patient may have to go for a crown or probably try to get the tooth bleached first, try to get the shades lighter and then go for an aesthetic procedure like veneers or crowns. Generally it is not possible to reverse a fluorotic condition of the tooth. So therefore educating the patient about the fluorosis and letting the patient know so that the next generation will have less of is always essential as far as the public health dentistry is concerned.
