Dental Bridges (Fixed Partial Dentures)

One option for replacing a missing tooth is a fixed partial denture, or bridge. Bridges can be made of different materials, usually a metal alloy or a tooth-colored porcelain which is fused to a metal framework. There are different kinds of bridges. Which bridge your dentist recommends will depend on which tooth (or teeth) are missing. A pier abutment can support a long span bridge where teeth are missing on both sides. Often these have a stress-breaking hinge or “keyway” joining two segments. A cantilever bridge can be used near the front of the mouth if carefully designed to prevent excess forces. Bonded bridges allow replacement teeth to be inserted with little or no reduction of the neighboring teeth. ~ Dental professionals can license more videos for their websites at https://member.ToothIQ.com
