Can one whiten the teeth if having Dental Fluorosis? – Dr. Aniruddha KB

Generally when you have fluorosis. Your teeth is already chalky, opaque and white. So it looks like white patches, so it will be like small bits of paper stuck on your teeth or it will be some chalky appearance will be there. So when we say white teeth, there is nothing like white teeth. Of you closely look at your tooth, it has got multiple shades in it. Even if it is white, it is because of the aesthetic composition of colours on the tooth that has resulted in that particular colour to be reflected back to a person who is seeing a tooth. So how do we make the tooth lock more aesthetic is the question. Esthetics is something that we can refer to as aesthetic procedure. So how do we whiten? In mild discolouration of the tooth we can probably bleach, although bleach is not completely recommended in cases of dental fluorosis, because of the chemical agents that are used, but otherwise you can use veneers, we can use any kind of zirconia veneers or lithium disilicate veneers and give you a nice smile which will look natural. But however we will have to assess whether it is really possible to do something on the tooth or probably if it is going to be detrimental for the tooth or damaging for the tooth, eh we will have to look in for other options, after thorough evaluation with x-rays and after clinical evaluation.
